The Elephant and Castle pub
is a well established Lewes venue, built in 1838.
The downstairs rooms allow clientele to play pool and, watch sports on
various big screens, or just relax in one of the quieter
corners. A pleasant outdoor patio area allows customers to
take in the brief glimpses of sunshine available in the
British summer.
Upstairs is one high ceilinged function room with open
fireplace and lit by two chandeliers. This room is
available for hire for a variety of functions. Refreshments
can be arranged, from tea and biscuits to buffets and sit
down meals.
Huw and Declan have got the pub in the hallowed pages of the
CAMRA Good Beer Guide since 2006 and have good relations
with the CAMRA organisation.
Harveys Best Bitter is stocked all year round alongside
Timothy Taylor Landlord and a revolving guest ale, usually
from a local brewery. Also available is Old Rosie, a
traditional hand pump cider from Westons.
The Elephant and Castle boasts one of the largest ranges of
draught lagers in Lewes, with Heineken, Kronenbourg, Stella
Artois, Amstel, Carling and Fosters all available as well as
Budvar, Becks and more in bottles.
Food is served from 12.00 midday to 2.30pm Monday to Friday,
and 12 till 5 Saturday and Sunday, evening meals are served
6-8.30pm on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. The
Famous Ellyburgers are still available and are still
homemade with locally sourced steak mince .

Commercial Square Bonfire Society,

The Lewes Folk Club has
moved to the Elly, meeting every Saturday with monthly
workshops on Saturdays or Sundays.
